What Kind of Week It Has Been (part 2)

So we go back two weeks to finish off the two-parter, What Kind of Week It Has Been. We had left off with Monday, I believe. A Monday in which I torpedoed, subtly, a job interview, took care of some cats, and visited the studio. At the studio, I ran into Kyler, who was taking a few days off between tour dates to visit her hubby Richard. They've decided to move out here to L.A. from NY permanently (probably sometime in May), which makes me very happy since that'll give me one more concert-going buddy.

Tuesday through Thursday, I substituted for LDBL at the school, teaching his 8th Grade English classes. It was an up/down experience that got more difficult with each passing day, culminating in a real horror-show Thursday that had the students taking advantage of me and the 8th Grade Math sub in the room next to me to such an extent that the administrators had to come in and dish out some discipline. I was so exasperated by the kids that, during my last period, I banged my head on the White Board several times.

Friday, I thought, would go easier, since I was teaching History to 6th and 7th graders, what with the 6th Graders being small enough to punt easily and the 7th Graders being the insecure "middle child". Boy was I wrong. Those runts in the 6th grade were terrible, and the only reason why I was able to control the 7th graders was because the teacher for whom I was subbing told me to dangle the carrot of homework passes for good behavior in front of them.

My evenings that week were taken up by mixing a song for Adrianne on Wednesday (and doing a kick ass job of it), then waiting for Richard to get off of work around 2 AM so that I could pass off cat-sitting duties to him; drafting my final fantasy baseball team with Tony on Thursday night (and finding out that NewsRadio is back on the Biography Channel, sister to A&E, two times a day); and tweaking Adrianne's song on Friday (dude, seriously, this is the best, most professional sounding mix I've ever done and I'm so very proud of it).

Saturday night, Nick, LDBL, Mer, and I had dinner at their place, then we went out for dessert in Hollywood at a cute little bakery followed by a quick jaunt over to the Cat and Fiddle Pub. I must warn you, fair readers, against trying to get drunk after stuffing yourself with dinner and a giant slice of peanut butter pie. First of all, having all that junk sitting in your stomach will soak up the alcohol before it can gooey up your system; second, having all the junk in your stomach will make it difficult to swallow and hold down any additional ingestibles such as ciders and Irish Car Bombs. Unless you want to spend most of the night lying down in a booth while your friends drink away, don't fill up on thick and tasty sweets before a night on the town, ok?

Now Listening To : Saucy Monky-Celebrity Trash
Random Thought : Hey, look, it's Chief Wiggum...I mean, Edward G Robinson, in the Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston.
