From Vegas with Love

There was a girl flirting with me on the Tram that travels across the Las Vegas strip a few days ago. She kept smiling at me and waving "hi". She had a beautiful smile. She didn't say much, but occasionally, she would bonk her head on the window and say "ow", then smile at me.

Yeah, ok, so maybe she was in a stroller. And she was, like, 2 years old. But she did make me grin a lot, and isn't that all one can ask of a girl? Little Miriam...her father hung her stroller up by the handles from the poles that stretch along the tops of the trams for handholds, allowing her to get a view of the city. This put her at about chin level to me, and so we pointed out stuff to each other, saying things like "ooh, car!", "look at the water!", and "ba ba ahhhh blrp?"

I've been having a nice time in Vegas. I arrived Monday afternoon, hung out with my cousins Carol and Roz (I'm staying at their parents' house), and picked up Phil and Jen. It rained all day on Tuesday (it was even snowing in Red Rock Canyon when we drove on the scenic loop there), so much so that there were rapids gushing out of the parking lot of Harrah's, forcing the exiting patrons to drive out onto the sidewalk to escape.

This is Phil and Jen's first time in Vegas, so they've been totally bowled over by all the things we've been seeing. Carol has been superb as our travel guide, taking us from casino to casino, around the shopping centers, and to various bars. Jen's had beginners luck with the slots, earning 50 some dollars on a few pulls of the handle.

Tonight, we're going to a Cirque du Soleil show at Treasure Island (Mystere) and then might go to a club called Tangerine. I have no swanky "going out" clothes, so I'm gonna see about stopping by the outlet shops to dude me up.

Oh the family stories that are being told...it's always so entertaining to be around my family. They are such good story-tellers that even the most mundane tales take on riveting life when replayed through their expressive bodies.

I'll try to give a coherent report of how New Year's on the strip is, but don't count on me remembering much of what we do.
