October 12, 2006 - 12:33 PM Less TV Than You Think I Watch Y is getting on my case about a lack of updates. In this one, she wants to know my thoughts on the new TV season. Well let me tell you something that maybe you didn't realize. For someone who watches a lot of TV, I don't actually watch a lot of TV. It would probably be easier if I had TiVO or something, then I could more easily arrange my TV schedule. Instead, I rely on a VCR to tape my stories when I'm not home, and now I have stacks of tapes housing a jumble of programming. It's daunting to go through, and the reason why I give up on shows so easily, especially shows that are serialized. I have tapes dating back three years with episodes from Angel and Everwood and Lost that I'll never watch because I don't know where in the storyline they happen. Thank god for DVD season sets. Now I don't have to worry about finding the right tape with the next episode of Lost, or fret that I might have taped over this week's Veronica Mars already. I can just wait a few months after the season ends for the DVD to come out, and watch the entire season at my own pace. Of course, by the time the DVD does appear, it's the start of the next season, and I've convinced myself that I will start watching everything live again, leaving me no time to watch the previous season. So that's why I'm still stuck on seasons 1 of Lost and Veronica Mars and Battlestar Galactica and previous seasons of Angel and Everwood and Gilmore Girls. You should see my Netflix queue. It's huge, and half of it is TV shows. This year, I've only watched 3 of the 4 Sunset Strip episodes, 3 Gilmore Girls, 1 Six Degrees, half of 2 Heroes, 1 Justice, and a smattering of House and Law and Order (which are Liz's programs). I'm losing faith in Sunset Strip (partly because the sketch comedy bits are not funny at all to me) and I'm losing interest in Gilmore Girls (there's not much to like about any of the characters anymore). Heroes is promising so far, and we still have to see where the Nine and Six Degrees go. I have 2 episodes of Smith to watch, but what's the point, it's already been cancelled. Thank god I didn't get into Vanished since that's pretty much gone as well. And, no Matt, I still am not watching the Office. Or My Name Is Earl. Or How I Met Your Mother. I guess I just don't do sitcoms anymore. Although, did you hear that the new Ted Danson show "Help Me Help You" followed in the footsteps of South Park to feature a character addicted to World of Warcraft? Eventually, I'll finish up the first seasons of Lost, Veronica Mars, and BG, then move onto those shows' second seasons, and perhaps catch up by the time this current season of each comes out on DVD. I'll also have to slog through DVDs from Mark and Nick, including Undeclared, American Gothic, and MI-5 (woot!); and see if I can squeeze in The Wire (which I've been getting hooked on thanks to Netflix) and previous seasons of West Wing. Or else, I could continue going out to concerts, hanging out with Liz, and generally having a life. Now Listening To : Combustible Edison- Schizophonic! Random Thought : Y also wanted to hear more about what's going on with Liz. Do the rest of you want to, too? What I Just Wrote Before - What I'm About to Write
