October 29, 2004 - 3:36 PM Giving Thanks for the Red Sox God, thank you for making the Red Sox win the World Series this year. I am very happy for them and for Boston that they no longer have to live under the shadow of their failures anymore. As one who lived in Massachusetts for 5 years, and who has a brother and sister starting families in the Boston area, I have a little "hometown pride" as it were for those scrappy little BoSox. After their performances in the first two games of the World Series, you could tell that something magical would happen. They certainly disproved the theory that, in order to win these short series, you need to win using pitching and defense. Who needs defense when you have pitching and hitting and hitting and more hitting and crazy hair? And the Cardinals certainly proved that you can't win with no pitching and no hitting. Now, God, if you could do me a little favor? Somehow, make the Oriole's leadership less stupid, have them remove their heads from their asses, and let them make the right moves so that they can stride right past those Damn Yankees and those Idiot Red Sox to take over the East. Thanks. And for the love of You, make sure that Tim McCarver and Joe Morgan never get within 100 yards of a microphone or a camera again. P.S. I know that they are having the parade in Boston tomorrow, and something like 5 million people are expected, but could you keep it manageable? My sister has some friends coming in to town to go visit another friend, Grace, who just had a baby. It sure would be nice if they didn't have to deal with too much traffic, you know?
