May 09, 2006 - 12:12 PM Crush III- The Crushening You've got to be kidding me. The ongoing saga of my crushes continues. Yesterday, I was at the Tower Records store in Sherman Oaks to buy a DVD for work, and what did I see but a bunch of posters advertising that KT Tunstall would be performing there later in the day. So, as soon as I got out of work, I hustled my butt back there and caught her 25 minute set. What a great voice, excellent stage presence, and utterly charming smile. God, when she smiles...it's so...so...so damnably adorable. And the Scottish burr. Mrowr. As soon as she wrapped up, I sped down into Hollywood (I didn't have time to hang around for the autograph session [which of course is my way of saying I didn't want to scare her by just standing there and drooling on her]) to Room 5 in order to see Adrianne share the stage with 3 other awesome singer-songwriters. The pretty bartender was working, and I was all muddled up by her beauty again. But I did manage to hold strong and NOT give in when she asked if I wanted anything to drink. Ha ha! Who's got the last laugh now? Of course, i didn't say anything else to her over the course of the night, even though I wanted to tell her that she had a little schmutz on the back of her shirt, or that her earrings were fabulous as was her hair and she was, hands down, the prettiest girl in the room. *sigh* Although she did get a run for her money from one of the other performers, a girl named, appropriately enough, Tristan Prettyman. She's from San Diego, and I've been meaning to catch her as she's passed through L.A. a couple times, but never did. I certainly won't be making that mistake again. The capper to the day, though, was the fact that I talked on the phone with a girl who I contacted through Friendster. Yeah, I've been scanning the profiles on Friendster, partly out of boredom, partly out of desperation. While I've viewed a few, she was the only one I contacted, because she listed Kirsty MacColl in her favorite music section, which just tickled me pink. And whaddya know, she replied, rather enthusiastically. We emailed back and forth a few times, and then she gave me her phone number. So, I called her yesterday around lunchtime, but had to leave a message. She called back around 5:30, and we chatted. She's currently directing a stage musical in Hollywood which got an excellent review in the L.A. times, so I'll go see it this Friday and then we'll have drinks afterwards. I just have to keep reminding myself that I'm NOT a loser, that I'm an ok guy. We shall see.... Now Listening To : Tori Amos- Under the Pink Random Thought : Adrianne dedicated "10000 Stones" to me last night. I've never had a song dedicated to me! Cool.
