Listen to More Good Music

Soph wanted to welcome me to the world of NPR listeners and to point out that she listens to Car Talk. This after my revelation that I am now a regular NPR listener, which followed her excited phone call about hearing KT Tunstall's interview and performance on All Things Considered. You can hear that off of NPR's website here.

And Y wanted to throw in her two cents, that she saw KT Tunstall on the Today Show and was instantly converted. You can download her performance from a link here. Click on the Megaupload link (the other one is dead). On the next page avoid clicking on any of the ad links...instead hit the "continue with megaupload" link. You'll briefly see a message that says "please wait" with a countdown of around 30 seconds. Before the countodown is done, though, a box that says Megaupload Links will pop up over the message. Just click on the x in the upper righthand corner to make the box disappear, then click on the "Click Here to Download" box underneath it. The file is about 54 MB large and a slow download, but worth it to see how she uses her delay pedal to create a full band sound by herself. And also to see some of the cutest dimples ever. I swear, that smile and that accent just do me in.

Oh, last week, I went to the Hotel Cafe to see Gabriel Mann. Kickass show by him as always. It was the act that was on before him, though, that caught me by surprise. I had not heard of her before, but I'm glad I showed up early and caught most of her set. Her name is Priscilla Ahn and you can get to her myspace page here to hear some of her songs, including a cover of Girlfriend in a Coma. She too uses a pedal setup to loop vocal and guitar parts live. At that show, she also had a cellist back her up on a few songs, as well as a 12-string guitarist and a percussionist.

She reminds me of a less yippy Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries and Bic Runga (new album coming out soon!) with songs that are delicate, simple, and beautiful. In addition to her solo work, she sings with Joshua Radin and will be appearing on Carson Daly with him next Tuesday, the 7th.

While you're setting up your Tivo, KT is scheduled to be on the Ellen Degeneres show next Wednesday, the 8th. Aww yeah.

Now Listening To : Priscilla Ahn- Lost
Random Thought : Off to see a Rock Faux Opera called Rock of Ages with Matt. Thanks for the tix, Pam.
