December 16, 2005 - 4:21 PM Giant Monkey Puts Heart On Line for Girl! Liked Kong a lot. Hated the bugs. Got wicky from acrophobia when Kong was scaling the Empire State Building. Isn't that sad? I seriously got nervous about heights and falling from CGI camera shots of a CGI gorilla climbing a CGI building. Would I want to spend 3 hours watching it again? Maybe. Probably from the comfort of my own bed after it's come out on DVD. Go watch it. As for J. She enjoyed it too. She's such a cute girl. As soon as we got in our seats, she removed her boots so that she could hug her stockinged legs close to her body. Her reasoning? Might as well get comfy for a 3-hour movie. By the way, we caught the screening in the Dome at the Arclight (the curve of the screen was a bit disorienting as we were off to the side a tad), so there was plenty of chair and leg room for her to have her legs tucked under her. We went out to eat afterwards at DoughBoys Bakery and Cafe in West L.A. Noshed on HUGE servings of soup and salad. Talked, ate, had some not-so-awkward silences. I still have no clue as to where things are or where they are headed. I need your help and advice, loyal readers. How can I tell if she likes me, or is just being friends? If we go out to see a movie and have food afterwards, just the two of us, is that considered a date, or just two buddies hanging out? How do i broach the subject with her? Is coming out and saying "hey J, you wanna try dating me on for size? see how I fit, if you like me?" too untactful and unromantic? Do I instead surreptiotiously see how she responds to randomly having our arms or legs touch, do the old "yawn/arm around the shoulders" thing? How and when do you cross that line, break that barrier, go overt with intentions? She's certainly not throwing herself at me, nor is she necessarily playing coy. The fact that she continues to do stuff with me, to email and IM with me, shows that she at least likes me and enjoys my company, right? We've been out to eat at various places new to me (she's becoming my food guide to L.A.); she invited me to the Museum of Contemporary Art (where she works in the gift shop on weekends) to check out a new exhibit on comic and cartoon artists; we've gone to a few movies and shopped at Amoeba. I got her an interview for a second P.A. position here at the show (in a fairly knotty twist, it went to someone else who she recommended to me as well, the roommate of her ex-boyfriend [the fact that she still talks to her ex and insists that they are good friends makes me wary because I don't know many, or any people who are still friends with their exes without there being some sort of ulterior motive]). And I've been helping her edit and revise her personal statements for her grad school applications. Yeah, she's looking to go to grad school next fall to study Comparative Literature. Among her schools are Stanford and Berkeley up north; UCLA, USC, and a few other schools around L.A.; and Princeton and Columbia on the east coast. Which means I could potentially lose another girlfriend to Columbia. Blah. Send me your thoughts and suggestions! Now Listening To : Lamb-Lamb Random Thought : Crap, I have to do a year end "favorites" listing soon, don't I? What I Just Wrote Before - What I'm About to Write
