iPod, Come Hither

Ha haaaa! Amazon was just fucking with me. May 1st my butt. It turns out that the Muppet Christmas with John Denver cd was holding up everything because it wasn't in stock, and Amazon can't get their shit together enough to indicate that, while that one CD will delay the shipment it's in, it won't delay another shipment that they are sending separately. A shipment that contains, say, just my iPod. Which arrived today. At least they got it to me faster than 5-10 days.

And now, we wait. Because my 4 year-old Mac G4 doesn't have a USB 2.0 port. It's still rinky-dinkying along at 1.1 speeds (which is 12 mb/s, as opposed to 480 mb/s for the 2.0 version). It would take forever and a day to upload the 9.5 gigs of music I have on my computer at those speeds. Which means it would take several days to get the rest of my music collection on it after I rip those from the CDs...you see, I've only put artists H through L on the computer so far. That's about 1/7th of all my music. Yikes.

I'm gonna have to find time to buy a PCI card with USB 2 ports. Looks like a trip to Best Buy is in order for tomorrow. It kinda pisses me off that this new generation of iPods doesn't have firewire compatibility, nor does it come with a separate power charger. You have to turn on your computer and charge through the USB cable, or else BUY the stand alone charger.

Oh, and a big thanks to all of you who emailed me with suggestions for accessories. All zero of you. You bastards. I had to actually call some of you to see what I should get.
