January 17, 2004 - 2:29 AM Good News/Bad News Revisited Good News: I'm working today (saturday)! Some Kool and the Gang related project. Bad News: It's with Irv Gotti and Ashanti, too. The last time I worked with these guys was my first session which started with a 24 hour day and stretched out to 2 weeks of 90+ hours each week. So far it's just scheduled for one day, but who knows with these people. Good News: A triple bill of extraordinary magnitude is happening this coming monday, the 19th, at the Hotel Cafe. The night starts off with Terami Hirsch at 8 PM, then my pal Sylvie Lewis at 9, and finally Charlotte Martin at 10. I'm super-psyched to see all three. You should come. Bad News: Aforementioned session might continue through next week, which would nix my going to the concert. Boooo! Good News: Anne Heaton, whose album Black Notebook was my favorite cd purchased last year, will be visiting from the east coast and playing at Genghis Cohen on Fairfax next Saturday the 24th. Bad News: I start work on a new session that day, which means no-go for me on THAT concert; thus am I pissed off to no end. REALLY Bad News: The session that starts on the 24th (and goes through the 26th) is with those Europeans again, the ones who nearly robbed me of my ability to appreciate music last November. Good News: The reason why I'm working these two sessions of torture is that I worked with the producers/engineers the last times they were here, and they liked me, which means I must be doing something right, and I've got a good reputation. Bad News: I have to keep working with these fuckpunchers because they like me. Being dependable and reliable sucks ass sometimes. Good News: I'm scheduled for one more recording session which starts on the 31st and goes through the 2nd. This allows me to attend another concert that I'm looking forward to this month, Vienna Teng and Odessa Chen at the Hotel Cafe on the 28th. Crossing my fingers that that day remains open for me. Hey Tony, tell Jennifer about this concert. I think she'll be very interested. Good News: I've got an interview with the Executive Director at a charter junior high school in L.A. (where LDBL teaches) this coming Tuesday about becoming a substitute teacher. Bad News: I'm becoming more and more worried that my lack of teaching credentials will work against me. And that, if I DO become a sub, I won't have a clue as to how to handle the kids or how to present the lesson plans correctly. Good News: Man, those Unemployment checks sure are nice. I'm on the dole, I am! And at least I'll be getting some long hours which will turn into big paychecks for these upcoming sessions. Bad News: But there go my next three weekends. Bastards. Now Listening To : Holly Cole-Temptation Random Thought : I've put on 6 lbs since the 1st of the year, when I was down at 155 lbs. Yay me! What I Just Wrote Before - What I'm About to Write
