November 28, 2006 - 6:33 PM Cello Wonder Strikes Again This Saturday, I will be playing cello with Charlotte Martin at the Knitting Factory. It's a special show to benefit Darfur, and she'll be having numerous guests accompanying her on stage. How did I get this gig? My friend Terami is friends with Charlotte, and T recommended me to her when she heard that Char was looking for a cellist. I was nervous last week when i crawled across L.A. in rush-hour traffic to Char's home for a rehearsal, partly because I was rusty, partly because I had just had my strings changed and my bow rehaired but hadn't had a chance to test them out, and partly because I'm a fan of Charlotte's. I needn't have worried, though, as I played well-enough to earn effusive praise from Char and the other musicians. So, I'll be front and center on one of the songs, sorta front and center on another, and part of the band on a third song. It should be pretty cool, since I've never played with a band before. Also interesting is that one of the bass players (who will also be pulling out a french horn for a song) was the frontman for the group Abandoned Pools, a band that was on the label attached to the first recording studio at which I worked here in L.A. Now Listening To : Charlotte Martin- Stromata Random Thought : This was a boring entry. I'm sorry. What I Just Wrote Before - What I'm About to Write
