November 01, 2005 - 6:12 PM I See Celebrities...Stay Away, Begley One of the disappointments of the premiere party was that despite having some real, quality famous people on the guest list (Seth Green, Sarah Michelle Gellar), I didn't see any roaming the floors. I was banking on seeing someone, anyone with some sort of celebrity clout. No cigar. So I'm left to my everyday c-list sightings (which strangely mostly happen while I'm doing an errand for work) like Scott Speedman wandering around a parking lot in Beverly Hills across from Mastro's Steakhouse. You know who Scott Speedman is don't you? Werewolf from the Kate Beckinsale bondage/vampire flick Underworld? Pink station-wagon-driving, amateur karaoke-er in Duets? The shorter love interest from the WB show Felicity? Yeah, he was just kicking it with a basketball in the parking lot, not bothering anyone, and the parking attendants didn't bother him. It looked like he was waiting for someone to pick him up. And, dude, the guy is freakin' pretty. Talking about freak but not pretty, howabout Richard Grieco at Starbucks? Yes he did look this bad, like a cross between Prince and Dave Navarro (and just as short). What was weird was the baristas at Starbucks called out "Hey Richard" and he said hi back, and while he was waiting, he talked fantasy football strategy with the guy making his drink. Then there is my nemesis: Ed Begley Jr. I've seen him twice while doing things for work. First was back in the spring, when I was at the local postal service shop to drop off DHL shipments. There he was, discussing ways to get a package out. When I exited the shop, I noted his Electric Toyota Rav4. Then, last week, I went to pick up lunch at a local Indian restaurant. There was no one there...not even the host/server/cashier. A completely empty restaurant. I walked up to the bar where the cash register is and looked into the kitchen where I could see cooks, but still no one came out into the dining area. And then I turned to look back towards the front entrance, and ensconced in a corner was Begley Jr. with some woman, happily finishing their meal. Carrying my order out a few minutes later (after the host finally floated out from some back room), I again saw his white electric SUV. Of all the people to see twice, why did it have to be you BEGLEY!? Who else has there been? Joey Slotnick walked in a crosswalk in front of me outside of an agency; I had dinner at Iroha Sushi at the table next to Yancy "Witchblade" Butler; Janel Moloney, Donna Moss herself, was perusing the baked goods window at Peet's Coffee while I ordered some grounds; I drove behind Ron "Arvin Sloane" Rifkin in Santa Monica; Danny Strong was laughing a little at the M-Bar for a comedy show; Jesse Bradford was eating at a booth across from me at California Pizza Kitchen; and I think that was "Boy Meets World" co-star Rider Strong standing next to me at Fedex yesterday. I need to get better at bumping into more famouser people. Now Listening To : Innocence Mission- Innocence Mission Random Thought : I will not drink again until Reunion. This I swear.
