October 24, 2006 - 2:47 PM Nothing of Interest Issues Forth from Flailing Fingers I haven't been feeling particularly talented with the wielding of words lately. Nothing witty, nothing sage. Just blah. It's tough to write when you don't feel the creative impulse. Stacking letters next to each other in jumbles of twos and threes and sixes can lead to something, but it usually ends up like a narrative development housing tract: dull, unoriginal, hackish. Happy birthday to my brother Phil. He's 31 today. We talked on the phone yesterday...he's enthralled with his big flatscreen TV and has been watching a lot of tv. We both agreed on the awesomeness of Heroes and the overbearingness of Studio 60. There were lamentations over the loss of Smith. And he urged me to watch the Office. In addition, he stated that The Departed has now become one of his top 5 favorite movies of all time. How did you feel about The Departed? I thought it was good, but not great; something about the plotting, the pacing, the story arc didn't always work for me. Maybe I would have enjoyed it as a miniseries more. Tony was disappointed by it, and I think Matt was "meh" about it. Also recently watched "Stick It" and "Dave Chappelle's Block Party" on DVD. Despite Mark's protestations that "Stick It" is one of the worst movies he's ever seen, I liked it. And despite Soph's adoration for the Dave Chappelle film, I didn't dig it that much. I must have stupid tastebuds. This coming Saturday, Liz and I are driving up to Big Bear to freeze our tookis' off. See? I'm so tapped out with my writing, I can't even string thoughts together with silly segues. How can I get out of this doldrum?
