There Goes Another Year

Today I am Silver Plus One. I have reached the apex of my twenties and am beginning the barrelling towards 30. Today, I get to eat steak. Really good steak.

In about an hour, Tony is going to take me out to dinner along with the-girl-we-all-love-margaret and Matt and Sharon. We shall eat much, they will pay (Actually, I never pay. They don't let me. Stupid older cousins. Always giving me free food, free entertainment, free alcohol.). Unfortunately, there won't be any boozin' or whorin', because I have to work tomorrow. I think.

But what about work today? Well, my session got postponed until we-don't-know. "We don't know" might be tomorrow, it might be next week. We don't know. It's all good though. More "me" time is always nice.

Nothing to regret this year. It's been an excellent ride. Phil and Soph got engaged; Phil was married; I started a new job, weathered some slow times, finally got my promotion. Sure the music business is sorta freakin' me out with the state of depression that it's in, but I'm doing ok, and having fun with it and learning SO much. Now I just gotta kick it up a notch (noooooooo, I didn't just say that, did I? shoot me please!). I had my first girlfriend which worked out well as far as these things go. Kind've a trial relationship, no strings attached, ended as we planned (how often do you get that?). Had lots of baseball fun, ate some good food, partied in moderation. Yeah, 25 was a good year.

Thanks to all y'all what called me today to wish me a happy birthday. Thanks also to those who sent me cards, emails, e-cards, rhinoceroses, and deodorant. Especially my surrogate fake sisters (yels, you ain't my only one).

I treated myself to some DVDs already with some of the moneys I received. Bought A Few Good Men, The Big Lebowski (give us zee mahhneee Lebowskeee...vee beleeeve in nahsing!), and Glengarry Glen Ross. All spectacular dialoguistical movies.

My real sister Soph agreed to buy me Season 3 of Buffy on DVD. She had already placed it in her mind to buy me one of the Buffy sets before I even asked her, but she wasn't sure which season to get. Bless her kindred spirit soul.

If any of you watched the half-time show on Monday Night Football a couple days ago, you saw that one guy play piano with John Popper of Blues Traveler. You also saw that other player do some raps with DMC of Run DMC. Well, that rap session was filmed in Studio A at my work place. I was giddy when I saw it on tv because I didn't even realize that they had done that there, but there it was. Usually when I see a recording studio in some video or interview on tv, I try to figure out if I know the room, if it's someplace where I've been. Usually, it's not. But this time, as each shot rolled forth, the pieces of the room, the couch, the equipment, the vocal booth, they all came together and I hopped around my apartment wondering who to call to share my excitment. Sadly, i had no one to call. So now I tell you.

Random Thought : Happy to report that I am back to hitting the gym at least 4 times a week now. But I see less of Mr. T. Where is he?
